Housing Policy Remodeled

Starting fall 2022 BYU students are getting more flexibility when it comes to choosing off-campus digs. In an update to a decades-old policy, students will be required to live in BYU-contracted housing only for their first two semesters. “This change expands the housing options for BYU students,” says residence-life director Paul A. Barton (BS ’86). Students can apartment hunt farther from campus and continue to bunk with non-BYU students—such as former mission companions and Utah Valley University students—while “reducing the challenges for off-campus landlords in requiring BYU’s residential living standards for non-BYU students.”
