Doctors Are In

BYU ranks 10th in the nation in the number of graduates who earn doctoral degrees, according to a new nationwide, federally financed study. The National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago issued an analysis of every PhD earned in the United States from 1995 to 2004. With 2,116 alumni earning doctorates in that period, BYU came in ahead of such universities as MIT, Yale, and Stanford.

Movin’ On Up

BYU moved up one place in U.S. News & World Report’s annual survey, to 70th in the “national universities” category. The university was also ranked 19th in the “great schools, great prices” category.

International Exchange

Formerly known as International Outreach, BYU’s Intercultural Outreach has chosen a name that is more indicative of its goals.

Plans for DT

BYU has announced plans to raze the Deseret Towers housing complex on campus. V- and W-halls , two buildings that will be unoccupied fall semester, are the first slated for demolition. The remaining five buildings will serve students throughout the 2006–07 school year.

Tech Head

G. Michael Alder was recently ap-pointed director of the BYU Technology Transfer Office, succeeding Lynn Astle, who has retired.
