Grad Kensie Smith blows confetti out of her hand
PC: McKensie K. Smith (BA ’16)

It’s a banner day at BYU: graduation day. And to memorialize it, the University Communications team is “Storifying” grad-day photos—putting the pics grads share under the #BYUgrad hashtag into an online photo stream.

Nearly 6,000 students will receive degrees today; 5,038 bachelor’s, 688 master’s, and 203 doctoral degrees. Elder L. Whitney Clayton, senior president of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is the featured speaker, along with student speaker Alicia Stanton, who is graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in molecular biology and a minor in editing. Su Ge (MA ’84, PhD ’87), an alum with a distinguished career as a scholar, diplomat, and expert on Chinese–American relations, will receive an honorary Doctor of International Leadership.

Congrats to the 2016 graduates!
