Alumni Tours

Athletic Tours

Take to the road with the BYU Cougars as they gear up for the 1995 football season. Alumni booster tours and lodging offer a great way to rally support at away games.

Sept. 2—BYU vs. Air Force Academy: During our weekend getaway tour Sept. 1–3, fly from Salt Lake City to Colorado Springs and stay with the team at the Red Lion Hotel (or join up with the group at Colorado Springs). Ride the Cog Railway to the summit of Pikes Peak, enjoy a chuck-wagon supper and western show at the Flying W, join a chalk talk with the Cougar coaching staff, share a pre-game lunch with Colorado alumni, and cheer the Cougars on to victory over the Air Force Falcons.

For hotel reservations only, contact the Red Lion Hotel at (719) 576-8900 and identify yourself as a traveler with the BYU Alumni Association to receive the special booster rate of $65 plus tax per room.

Sept. 30—BYU vs. Colorado State University: For hotel reservations at the team hotel, call the Fort Collins Marriott at 1-800-548-2635 and identify yourself as a Cougar booster for a special rate of $99 plus tax per room.

Oct. 14—BYU vs. Arizona State University: On Friday, Oct. 13, fly from Salt Lake City to Phoenix (or join up with the group in Phoenix). Stay with the team at the Phoenix Airport Hilton and enjoy some sun and fun. There will be time for shopping; a visit to the Heard Museum, famous for native culture and art; and a game-day brunch with Coach LaVell Edwards.

For hotel reservations only, call the Marriott Courtyard Hotel (adjacent to the Hilton) at (602) 966-4300 and identify yourself as a Cougar booster for a rate of $65 plus tax per room.

Nov. 11—BYU vs. New Mexico: Booster rates are available with reservations at the Albuquerque Hilton, the team hotel. Call 1-800-274-6835 and identify yourself as a Cougar booster for a rate of $75 plus tax per room.

Nov. 25—BYU vs. Fresno State: Booster rates are available at the Courtyard by Marriott. For reservations, call 1-800-321-2211 and identify yourself as a Cougar booster for a rate of $59 plus tax per room.

Performing Arts and Church History Tours

The 1996 Performing Arts Tour to China will accompany BYU’s Young Ambassadors for two weeks in May and June. Tentative plans include visits to Hong Kong, Canton, Beijing, X’ian, Guilin, Shanghai, and Hawai‘i. Such sites as the Great Wall, the Terra-cotta Army, and the Imperial Tombs highlight an agenda that also includes a cruise down the Lijiang River and a train ride from Hong Kong to Canton. (Be sure to see Imperial Tombs of China, a special exhibit at the Museum of Art on loan from November 1995 through March 1996. See story on page 34.)

In celebration of the Utah Centennial in 1996, a State of Deseret Centennial Series is being offered. Excursions include one-day tours, overnighters, motorcoach tours, and camping caravans.
