BYU Staff Serve on Day of Caring

Staff on Day of CaringBy Rachel L. Dahl On a beautiful morning in September, BYU employees joined forces with the community in a day of service. The United Way Day of Caring began with a pancake breakfast at Cougar Stadium. Then 140 BYU volunteers mingled with about 350 community members to serve local nonprofit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Recreation and Rehabilitation Services, and Kids on the Move. BYU has been involved with the Day of Caring since it began in 1996. Over the years volunteers have done yard work, painted walls, built a patio, laid carpet, put up a playground, and moved furniture. Phyllis D. Jensen, Coordinator of Community Relations at BYU, says, “It’s a great opportunity for employees of BYU to give back to a community that has given us so much.”
