50 years ago: 150 homes were brought from Mountain Home Air Force Base and put in place as Wyview Village for married students and faculty.
25 years ago: Under president Jeffrey R. Holland (BS ’65) the Excellence in the Eighties campaign was launched and eventually raised more than $100 million to strengthen the school’s infrastructure—buildings, equipment, etc.
10 years ago: Provo City residents pass a $16.8 million bond to build a new library in the dilapidated and neglected Brigham Young Academy (BYA) building. The BYA Foundation followed up the election by raising the additional $5.4 million required for the project within the next five months, thus saving the historic structure from the wrecking ball.
5 years ago: The university began construction on an athletic complex that would include a large indoor practice facility and a student athlete center.
