Go with the Flow

waterfallIn the sun-dappled shade, students and visitors can stroll from the indoor tennis courts to the botany pond along the newly restored South Campus Stream and Trail, pausing to listen to one of five waterfalls or admire labeled botanical specimens. The stream, originally known as the Upper East Union Canal, brought water from the Provo River to local farmers and carried away drainage after heavy rainfall—needs that diminished over time. River water again runs the same course but is re-circulated through an underground drainage system to conserve resources. After months of landscaping renovation, the restored trail opened in April, providing a half-mile of tranquility and an opportunity for outdoor study just below campus. | Photography: Bradley Slade
