NEW DOWNTOWN DIGS

BYU Salt Lake CenterThe new BYU Salt Lake Center, located at Triad 3 in downtown Salt Lake City, is officially open. All fall classes are taking place in the new facility, which includes 28 classrooms, a library complete with a computer lab, and a testing center.

DT DONE FOR

BYU freshmen no longer inhabit Deseret Towers. The five remaining on-campus housing towers, erected in 1964, were permanently vacated shortly after Education Week in August and will be razed in the coming months.

PLANETARIUM DEDICATED

Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve dedicated the planetarium in BYU’s Eyring Science Center on Sept. 28. The newly named Royden G. Derrick Planetarium honors Elder Derrick, a distinguished industrialist, engineer, and Church leader.
