New Assistant Vice President Announced


Lee Bartlett, BYU Communications Department chair and an associate professor of advertising, has been appointed BYU’s new assistant vice president for public communications.

“As a senior professional with vast experience in strategic communications planning, Lee will greatly help us in accomplishing our goals,” said President Merrill J. Bateman. “We are seeking to expand BYU’s inþuence, strengthen the awareness of our quality educational programs, and respond to demands for more electronic transfer of information.”

Bartlett will work directly with Brent Harker, director of Public Communications, who will manage the university’s growing electronic communication needs, including its Internet site.

Prior to joining the communications faculty at BYU in 1987, Bartlett worked for the largest advertising agency in the PaciÞc Northwest, Cole & Weber. He also served as president of the Seattle Advertising Federation from 1978 to 1979 and was named chair of the Western Region of the American Association of Advertising Agencies (AAAA) in 1980. He was a director on the AAAA national board for two years.

Bartlett received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from BYU.
