After joining Alumni Association Church history tours, many BYU alumni have asked, “What’s next?” In response, the association will launch several American history tours in the summer of 2006 to take travelers to sites such as Washington, D.C., and Williamsburg, Va.
“These tours will provide insights into the Revolutionary War period,” says Reid A. Robison (BA ’75), who directs the alumni tour program. “Like the Church history tours, these trips are designed at affordable prices that include airfare from Salt Lake City, hotel, motor coach, admission fees, a guide, and more.”
The new tour reflects the growing interest in traveling with other BYU alumni. In 2005 more than 1,700 alumni and friends traveled with the Alumni Association on Church history tours as well as on cruises, sports tours, and a Shakespeare tour.
Karen Kuehne Warner (BS ’68) and her husband, Paul (BS ’65), directed one of the fall foliage Church history tours and found the experience exhilarating.
“We loved our people, and they seemed to have a really good time,” Karen explains. “We cherish these Church sites, and it was wonderful to have a few places, such as Adam-ondi-Ahman, where we had this beautiful area to ourselves and could really teach doctrinal lessons.”
