A veritable sea of Cougar faithfuls, united in their BYU blue, floods campus on game day. While you may not be among the throng nowadays, you can still keep connected to your alma mater by participating in Spirit Fridays, the day on which alumni are asked to wear the dark blue of BYU, regardless of where they are on the globe. “It’s a great way to feel connected to the university, even though you may live far away,” says Linda M. Palmer (BS ’71), executive director of the BYU Alumni Association.
Palmer and the Alumni Association encourage alumni to take advantage of casual Fridays by wearing Cougar blue or “BYU logo clothing, ties, pins, and other insignias.” It doesn’t matter if alums wear a blue button-up to the office or don a BYU hoodie in their home, just wearing the colors of BYU can help unite Cougars old and young, near and far.
Palmer hopes alumni will make displaying BYU blue a habit. “Once you attend BYU, you are a permanent part of the family,” she explains. “Participating in Spirit Fridays is a nice way of proclaiming that we are all connected for good.”
