Richard J. Bean (’13) joined Student Alumni, an organization that involves students in BYU Alumni Association service and activities, when his brother Mark (BA ’08) served as its president. Bean began as a volunteer, served as the executive vice president, and will be president during the 2011–12 school year.
“Working with Student Alumni is a great way to volunteer,” he says. “My brother was a good influence on me, saying that I should get involved during my time here.”
Bean has participated in many projects, including the annual food drive between BYU and the University of Utah.
Other officers will include Kyle R. Jardine (’14), executive vice president; Erika J. Nash (’13), programs vice president; Nicholas W. Blair (’14), programs vice president; Jeffrey Merrill (’12), communications vice president; and Andrew Bressler (’13), communications vice president.
Student Alumni projects include the Traditions Ball, Finals Survival Kits, Parents Weekend, etiquette dinners, the Show Me the Money seminar, and the Brimhall Essay Contest. In addition to the officers, as many as 100 volunteers assist at events.
