The BYU men’s cross country team placed ninth at the NCAA Championships in November. Kyle T. Perry (’09) led the Cougars, coming in 10th out of 225 runners in the men’s 10k and earning his third All-America honor. Earlier in the season, the men’s team claimed its fifth straight MWC title and the women’s team placed second in conference.
Beating the Utes in the MWC tournament championship gave the BYU women’s soccer team the MWC title and the right to host first- and second-round NCAA tournament games at home on BYU’s South Field. The no. 22 Cougars beat no. 25 Virginia Tech in the first round, and though the Cougars lost in the second round of the NCAA tournament, they lost to USC—the defending national champions—in a shootout.
