Cross Country

Cross Country

The men’s and women’s teams were both named Division I All-Academic Cross Country Teams by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The No. 8 men recorded a cumulative team GPA of 3.28. The BYU women had the highest team GPA (3.73) of any of the 145 All-Academic women’s teams.

Swimming and Diving

Angela Goodson

The only BYU swimmer to compete at nationals, Angela Goodson made a splash by setting two new MWC records.

Two weeks after the women’s swim team won the 2007 Mountain West Conference (MWC) Championship and set new conference records in the 400 freestyle and 400 medley relays, All-American Angela Goodson (’08) went to nationals and set BYU and MWC records in the 100 butterfly (53.26), finishing 15th, and in the 200 butterfly (1:59.29), finishing 22nd.

The men’s swim team placed second in the MWC, only 15 points behind UNLV. All-American Brett A. Allen (’07) tied the MWC 50 freestyle record (19.62).

Track and Field

For the seventh time in eight years, the BYU men’s and women’s track and field teams won the Mountain West Conference Indoor Championship. The BYU men took home the title with 180 team points, outdistancing Colorado State by 37 points. On the women’s side BYU totaled 179 points to Colorado State’s 122.
