Although the BYU football team missed going to a bowl game for the first time in 18 years, the Cougars did take a share of the WAC football title, once again. Some lesser-known sports at BYU also fared well this fall.

The men’s soccer team, a club team, took second place in the national tournament. In a sudden-death double-overtime shoot-out, the BYU SoccerCats lost the national club title to the Weber State Wildcats, the defending champions. The team ended the season with a record of 22-3-4.

At the NCAA National Cross Country Championships, BYU’s harriers gave an excellent showing. The women’s team finished fourth in the nation, its highest NCAA finish ever. The men’s team took 10th.

As BYU’s newest NCAA sport, the women’s soccer team had a winning first season with an overall record of 11-8-1. The season ended with a loss to New Mexico in the semifinal game of the WAC Championships.
