MOA Names New Director

Campbell B. Gray

Campbell B. Gray of New South Wales, Australia, has been named the new director of the BYU Museum of Art. He replaces founding director James A. Mason, who is retiring.

Gray comes to the university with a doctorate in the history of art from the University of Sussex in England and additional art degrees from the City Art Institute at the Sydney College of Advanced Education and the Alexander Mackie College of Advanced Education, also in Sydney.

He has been a faculty member and coordinator of the postgraduate studies unit for visual arts and art history and criticism at the University of Western Sydney, Nepean, as well as coordinator of museums studies research and course work environments.

Gray is a member of Museums Australia and the Art Association of Australia.

A scholar who has published many papers and presented at several conferences, the new director was also a curator of exhibitions in Australia and directed an exhibition program that consisted of approximately 20 shows per year for five years.
