“Today the great source of wealth is what you’re getting here at BYU: education, mind, information—what we call human capital.” Pulitzer Prize–winning columnist George Will in an October 2013 BYU forum.

“In a way, you’re becoming tired of that taste without even eating the food.” BYU marketing professor Ryan S. Elder in Time magazine. According to a recent study he coauthored, participants who were shown images of salty foods were much less likely to enjoy a salty snack than participants who saw images of sweet foods.

“We do not enjoy such friendship and constructive conversation in spite of our theological differences, but in light of them.” Dr. R. Albert Mohler Jr., president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, in an address at BYU as part of the new Lectures on Faith, Family, and Society series.

“Kyle Van Noy is an absolute terror.” USA Today sportswriter Dan Wolken in a tweet after the BYU football team’s win against Boise State, in which Van Noy (BA ’13) contributed to many critical plays, including recovering a fumble and stopping Boise State on a 4th-down-conversion attempt. Van Noy spent his senior season on several national award watch lists.

“[I] provide a little bit of weekend relief . . . before sending them home with all the homework I’ve assigned.” BYU chemistry professor Joshua L. Price (BS ’03) on his weekly organic chemistry class ritual—“Blow Stuff Up Friday.” Price and other faculty and students also host an annual chemistry magic show for audiences of all ages during National Chemistry Week.
