BYU alum Conner B. Mantz (BS ’22) crossed the finish line first at US Olympic marathon trials, a mere 1 second before his friend, training partner, and fellow alum Clayton A. Young (BS ’19, MS ’22). Both pro runners qualified to represent Team USA in the Paris 2024 Olympic Summer Games. “We’re better together,” says Young. “That’s one of the reasons why the race played out the way it did. Because I knew that my best chance in Paris was to have Conner making the team as well.”
