BYU President Elected to National Board

President Merrill J. Bateman has been elected to the board of directors of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU). He assumed his new responsibilities on Feb. 5 at the NAICU 2002 annual meeting in Washington, D.C.

NAICU serves as the unified national voice of independent higher education and represents more than 900 private colleges and universities on policy issues with the federal government.

Fry Receives Canadian Enders Fellowship

Earl H. Fry, ’71, professor of political science, has been awarded the Enders Fellowship for the 2002­-2003 academic year.

The Thomas O. Enders Endowment encourages advanced scholarship on Canada and Canadian-U.S. relations with the goal of increasing mutual understanding between the United States and Canada on diverse bilateral issues.

Sorenson Named to Higher Education Board

D. Lynn Sorenson, ’67, assistant director of the Faculty Center at BYU, has been elected to the board of directors of the Professional and Organizational Development Network in Higher Education.
