Thomas L. Kane and the Latter-day Saints

Thomas L. Kane was never a Mormon, but he became a friend and defender of the Saints after hearing of the Mormons’ plight in the early 1840s. Kane, an attorney and military officer, was instrumental in maintaining peace during the Utah War and helped establish the Mormon Battalion. The Harold B. Lee Library presents an exhibit dedicated to this man, whom the prophets say should never be forgotten.
The Joseph Smith Papers

The Joseph Smith Papers project comes alive in this new BYU Television series, which takes an in-depth look at the life of the Prophet through journals, documents, business records, and revelations. The show examines 6,000 documents created by Joseph Smith and those he directed.
The Giver

BYU’s Theatre for Young Audiences presents Lois Lowry’s Newbery Award–winning novel The Giver on stage. In a world where there is no conflict, no pain, no color, and no choice, 12-year-old Jonas is selected to be the Receiver of Memory, who knows all of the society’s past secrets. As he works with the Giver, Jonas embarks on a courageous journey to change the way things are.
BYU Choral Academy
July 28–31 | J. Reuben Clark Law Building
Warm up, conduct, rehearse, and analyze. Participants in the third annual BYU Choral Academy will learn from music professors Ronald J. Staheli (BA ’72), conductor of BYU Singers, and Rosalind M. Hall (MM ’92), conductor of the Men’s Chorus. This four-day course helps everyone from professional conductors to church choir directors produce excellent choral performances.
Robison Invitational
April 22–25 | Clarence F. Robison Track and Field Complex
Cheer on runners, hurdlers, throwers, and jumpers at the Robison Invitational as they compete for regional qualifying scores and prepare for nationals. BYU’s team currently boasts more than a dozen nationally ranked athletes. The Robison Invitational is an annual meet honoring Clarence F. Robison (BA ’49), who coached track at BYU for 40 years.
