1964 | M. Anthony Burns (BS ’64, MBA University of California, Berkeley ’65; Joyce; Miami) is the managing owner of Red Ledges, a new premier private golf and recreational community in Heber City, Utah.

1972 | Alan J. Burgess (BS ’72, MA George Washington University ’74; Kathryn; Tehachapi, Calif.) was named the 2009 Richard A. Harley Diplomate of the Year by the American Academy of Medical Administrators.

1973 | Claudia Reeder Walters (BS ’73; Steven [BS ’77]; Mesa, Ariz.) was named Woman of the Year for Mesa, Ariz. She has served on the Mesa City Council, the Mesa Public Schools’ governing board, and various local, state, and national committees.

1976 | W. Val Oveson (BS ’76; Emilee Nebeker [BS ’73]; Bountiful, Utah) joined Wisan, Smith, Racker & Prescott as a partner. His practice focus is federal and multistate taxation, litigation support, and business consulting. Daniel R. Tindall (BA ’76; Janice; Vestavia Hills, Ala.) was promoted to vice president of KPS Group, an architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and planning firm.

1978 | Susan Cutler Leininger (BA ’78, MA Texas State University ’05; Doug [BS ’80]; Austin, Texas) was selected for Texas’ inaugural ACTiVATE program, which trains women to start technology companies based on innovation from universities and research institutions in the region.

1981 | Dee T. Allsop (BA ’81, MA Ohio State University ’86, PhD Ohio State University ’86; Charmaine; Fairfax, Va.) is CEO and managing partner of the new Washington, D.C., values-based research and consulting firm, Heart+Mind Strategies. Curtis A. Conkey (BS ’81, MS Colorado State University ’87; Catheryn Cooper [BS ’84]; Orlando, Fla.) completed a doctorate in modeling and simulation at the University of Central Florida. He works at the Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division.

1983 | Robert C. Chappell (BS ’83, ME ’84; Heidi; Mesa, Ariz.) cofounded EyeTech Digital Systems in 1996, creating and selling the first eye-tracking equipment that works with Windows. The company’s eye tracker has made it possible for thousands of people who were previously unable to use a keyboard or mouse to now use personal computers.

1984 | Victor C. Thompson (BA ’84, MA California State University ’88, EdD Pepperdine University ’97; Marie Gilpin [’82]; Lakewood, Calif.) is president of Region 14 of the Association of California School Administrators, serving 23 school districts in Los Angeles County.

1986 | William A. Tilleman (JD ’86, LLM Columbia University ’89; Sandra; Calgary, Canada) was appointed to be a justice of the Court of Queen’s Bench in Alberta, Canada, the superior trial court for the province. Melinda Chappell Trego (BS ’86; Michael [BS ’86]; Mesa, Ariz.) cofounded EyeTech Digital Systems in 1996, creating and selling the first eye-tracking equipment that works with Windows. 1989 | Mark A. Brown (BS ’89; Laura Williams [BA ’89]; Kaysville, Utah) has been named vice president and chief financial officer for SelectHealth. R. Scott Overson (BS ’89; Heather; Beaverton, Ore.) was promoted to be the general director of Intel Mexico.

1991 | Michael J. Cragun (BA ’91, JD Lewis & Clark College ’93; Heather; Layton, Utah) was appointed to the Utah State Tax Commission by Gov. Gary R. Herbert and confirmed by the Utah State Senate in November 2009. David J. Glew (BS ’91, MOB ’93, PhD Texas A&M University ’99; Nancy Millhone [BA ’92]; Wilmington, N.C.) was promoted to associate professor of management and granted tenure at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

1992 | David Berndt (JD ’92, MA University of Michigan ’01; Karen Olsen [’96]; Londonderry, N.H.) became legal counsel and director of human resources for Boston Medical Center’s physician organization.

1993 | Nathan K. Fisher (BS ’93, JD ’96; Lisa Millett [BS ’93]; Saint George, Utah) received a 2009 Southern Utah Home Builders Association Hall of Fame Award. Michael S. Oehler (BA ’93, JD University of Utah ’98, LLM University of Washington ’99; Jena Dresser [BS ’95]; Rocklin, Calif.) was named vice president and regional financial planner for the private client reserve at U.S. Bank. Kathryn Lynard Soper (BA ’93; Reed [BA ’92]; South Jordan, Utah) has published two anthologies and a memoir about her experiences as a mother of a child with Down syndrome.

1994 | Thad H. Balkman (BA ’94, JD University of Oklahoma ’98; Amy; Norman, Okla.) was named executive director of the Oklahoma Lawyers Association. Fernando M. Bustos (BA ’94, JD Texas Tech University ’00; Holley; Lubbock, Texas) has opened the Law Offices of Fernando M. Bustos in Lubbock. Timothy B. Fellars(BS ’94; Kirstin Ballentine [BS ’96]; Half Moon Bay, Calif.) received the Medal of Valor in 2009 from Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for his heroic part in rescuing six people from a boating accident.

1996 | Amie J. Leavitt (BS ’96; Payson, Utah) was invited to be an author presenter at the first University of Central Florida Book Festival in Orlando. Alison Benson Moulton (BS ’96; Paul [BA ’97]; Caldwell, Idaho) and her sisters Amy Benson Lacey (BA ’98) and Valerie Benson Christensen created Up Kind of Day, a CD that uses a variety of musical styles to teach children routines to make cleaning fun. 

Jeffrey L. Rawlins (BS ’96, MAcc ’96; Corona, Calif.) was admitted to the partnership of KPMG, an audit, tax, and advisory firm.

1997 | Charles T. Switzer (BFA ’97, MA Washington State University ’01, JD Vanderbilt University ’09; Roxanne Elder [BS ’97]; Carmel, Ind.) received Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accreditation from the Green Building Certification Institute.

1998 | David L. Dooley (BA ’98, MA Fresno State University ’05; Daniela Call [’97]; Tacoma, Wash.) was named Washington State’s 3A Swim Coach of the Year. Dooley is dean of students and head swim and water polo coach at Lakes High School in Lakewood, Wash. Amber Borowski Johnson (BA ’98; James [BA ’97]; Arvada, Colo.) won the Microsoft-sponsored Office Winter Games contest, which funded her trip to the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, British Columbia, so she could blog daily about the events. Jake H. Joines (BS ’98, MS Arizona State University ’00; Michelle Brown [BA ’99]; Saint George, Utah), of J2 Construction, won the Home Builders Association of Utah’s 2009 Remodeled Home of the Year Award. Amy Benson Lacey (BA ’98; Paul [BS ’98]; Las Vegas) and her sisters Alison Benson Moulton (BA ’96) and Valerie Benson Christensen created Up Kind of Day, a CD that uses a variety of musical styles to teach children routines to make cleaning fun. Daniel E. 1999 | D. Creighton Sebra (BA ’99, JD Pepperdine University ’02; Rachel Hall [BS ’99]; Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) was named partner at the law firm Morris, Polich & Purdy located in Los Angeles. He specializes in construction litigation.

2000 | Cicely Salatino Jensen (BS ’00; David; Long Beach, Calif.) completed an MBA with an emphasis in human resources at California State University, Long Beach.

2001 | Bradley J. Charles (BA ’01, JD Thomas M. Cooley Law School ’05; Diana Johnson [BS ’00]; Lansing, Mich.) joined Cooley Law School’s Ann Arbor campus as an assistant professor. 

Kent L. Gee (BS ’01, MS ’02, PhD Pennsylvania State University ’05; Alicia Wilson [BA ’01]; Provo) was awarded the 2010 R. Bruce Lindsay Award from the Acoustical Society of America for contributions to the fields of jet noise propagation, nonlinear acoustics, and active control of fan noise. Natalie Woolf Robinson (BS ’01, MEd Southern Utah University ’08; Brian; Pleasant Grove, Utah) received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and ScienceTeaching, presented by U.S. President Barack Obama. J. B. Rowberry (BS ’01, JD University of Southern California ’06; Chelsee Van Dusen [BM ’01]; Henderson, Nev.) joined the law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck as an associate in its real estate group. 

Adam S. Timothy (BS ’01, MBA Oxford University ’05; Eva; Newbury, Mass.) is the coauthor of Lost in Learning: The Art of Discovery, about lifelong learning and enjoying the creative journey.

2002 | Lindsey Taylor Leavitt (BS ’02; Curry; Birmingham, Ala.) published her first young adult novel, Princess for Hire, with Disney-Hyperion publishers. Brock R. Lyle (BA ’02, JD Washington University ’05; Laura Thomas [MS ’05]; Mountain View, Calif.) was named president of the San Mateo County Bar Association’s Barristers.

2003 | Eric R. Veenstra (BA ’03, BA ’03, JD University of Michigan ’06; Emily Bennett [BS ’02]; Naples, Fla.) completed pro bono legal work that contributed to his law firm, Quarles & Brady, being recognized as Law Firm of the Year by the Legal Aid Service of Collier County.

2004 | Joseph J. Olsen (BS ’04; Holly Olson [BA ’04]; Pleasant Grove, Utah) presented on behalf of Clyde Companies at the National Associated General Contractors 2010 Annual Convention.

2005 | Allison Glade Behjani (BA ’05, JD University of Utah ’08; Scott; Salt Lake City) joined the law firm of Parr Brown Gee & Loveless as an associate. She will focus her practice in the areas of corporate and real estate law. Scott M. Pingel (BA ’05, MPA West Virginia University ’07; Lindsey Toolson [BS ’04]; Kennewick, Wash.) is the new city manager for Stanfield, Ore.

2006 | Regan J. Brough (BM ’06; Springfield, Va.) plays bass for the Army Blues Band in Washington, D.C. Haroon Stephen (PhD ’06; Las Vegas) was appointed director of the GIS and Remote Sensing Core Lab at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

2007 | Robin Buck Cranney (BS ’07; Nathaniel [BS ’10]; Provo) and her husband welcomed their first child, Alexander, in March.

2008 | Jeremy D. Bowen (BA ’08; Darcee Thomson [BS ’09]; Alexandria, Va.) teaches reading and language arts in inner-city Washington, D.C., as a member of Teach For America.
