“Simple to learn, fun to play” is the motto of SimplyFun, a board game company founded by BYU graduates Matthew D. Molen (BA ’98) and Jeremy D. Young (BS ’96) with their partner Gail DeGiulio.
Molen says board games should be simple and fun because of the hectic and busy world we live in.
“Our mission is to promote the importance of play,” Molen says. “When you play together, memories are created and lasting bonds are forged. If we can get people to take 30 minutes a week to sit down and play together, we will feel great about that.”
SimplyFun’s games for adults and children cannot be found in retail stores, but are sold at in-home parties conducted by company consultants. The company has grown from 50 consultants in mid-2004 to 350 a year later.
Molen hopes the company will help change lives and “make a difference in bringing families closer. Games can do that. When we play games together, there is a lot more going on than just a game being played.”
