Four years of seeing how pleased parents and students have been when reunited for an autumn weekend of classes, campus tours, and activities has prompted the Alumni Association to dub the 2004 Parents Weekend “So Happy Together.”
The event, which will begin Oct. 8 and continue until Oct.10, will include opportunities to attend classes with students, see campus through tours and exhibitions, attend a tailgate party for the Oct. 8 UNLV football game, participate in a 5K family run, and attend church with students.
Parents Weekend registration information is online at alumni.byu.edu or parents.byu.edu. Parents and students should get tickets early for the football game; call 1-800-322-BYU-1 or 801-422-BYU-1.
Parents Weekend is only one of several activities planned for parents during the 200405 school year.
A parents section has been expanded at fall and winter New Student Orientations, Aug. 26, 2004, and Jan. 3, 2005, and will include sessions about giving parental advice, helping students avoid a “mission impossible” syndrome, understanding grade expectations, helping students in crisis, and letting students choose their majors. New Student Orientation registration is necessary (see orientation.byu.edu).
Additionally, the Parents Program will host a reception Nov. 6 after the Men’s and Women’s Choruses concert.
