Cougarettes Win National Competition

WITH the highest score ever awarded in the Dance Team Category, the Brigham Young University Cougarettes became the new National Dance Team Champions. “Hearing the announcer release the score was exhilarating,” Cougarettes director Jodi M. Maxfield, ’80, said. “With this win we again represent BYU as the top group in the nation.” More than 180 collegiate dance teams and cheerleading squads from the United States and Canada took part in the two-day competition held last April in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Cougarettes have won four of the last five competitions; two-tenths of a point kept them from a first-place finish in 2000.
