When plans for BYU’s new Wilkinson Center hangout, The Wall, began, the design team decided the space needed more than just music, drinks, and a stage—it needed a photo op. The solution? A Cosmo bench. Salt Lake City–based sculptor Virgil Oertle created the bronze seat, which was situated in its new den just before The Wall’s January opening.

manager of The Wall, adding that you can come by anytime and “rub Cosmo’s jersey for good luck.” Photography by Bradley H. Slade (BFA ’94)
