FROM HARVARD TO HAWAII

Church President Gordon B. Hinckley announced the appointment of Steven C. Wheelwright, the Edsel Bryant Ford Professor of Business Administration, Emeritus, at Harvard Business School, as the new president of Brigham Young University–Hawaii.

TANNER BUILDING EXPANDS

Expansion of the N. Eldon Tanner Building began April 25 under plans to add 76,000 square feet of classroom, study-area, and computer-lab space. Funded entirely by donations, the expansion will include the construction of a three-level, open-air parking structure. Completion is expected in the fall of 2008.

ASSOCIATE ACADEMIC VICE PRESIDENT APPOINTED

Jeffrey D. Keith (BS ’77) is BYU’s newly appointed associate academic vice president for undergraduate studies. He replaces K. Newell Dayley (BA ’64), who will retire from university service on Sept. 1. Keith previously chaired the Department of Geology.

BYU HONORS FIVE

BYU awarded honorary doctoral degrees at April commencement to Vice President Dick Cheney and BYU donors Ira and Mary Lou Fulton and Jack R. and Mary Lois S. Wheatley.
