BYU on the World Stage

BYU Danceers
The Rendezvous section on the Olympic opening ceremonies featured BYU’s Ballroom Dance Company, International Folk Dance Ensemble, and Living Legends.

FROM Salt Lake City to Park City to Provo, BYU‘s performing groups danced, sang, and played their way through the 2002 Olympic Games. The Church’s production Light of the World featured BYU‘s International Folk Dance Ensemble, Dancer’s Company, Living Legends, and Young Ambassadors. The Salt Lake Organizing Committee sponsored the Cougarettes in a production number involving 8-foot-tall seagull puppets, incorporating Utah’s state bird in a tribute to Utah and America. Other BYU dance and music groups that delighted crowds with their performances include the Ballroom Dance Company, Theatre Ballet, Syncopation, Synthesis, Jazz Legacy, Folk Music, Folk Music International, Vocal Point, University Singers, and the Chamber Orchestra.
