IT will be “All in the Family” Oct. 3 and 4 when parents converge on BYU campus to participate in the third annual Parents’ Weekend, a program presented by the Alumni Association for parents and their students.
Activities will include an opening dinner with President Merrill J. Bateman, a family 5K run, faculty lectures, campus tours, and Girls’ Night Out, a multi-activity event during the Saturday priesthood session of the Church’s General Conference. Also planned are a hike to the Y, a family breakfast, and a tour of the Museum of Art’s new major exhibition, Empire of the Sultans: Ottoman Art from the Khalili Collection.
“We hope to have between 5,000 and 6,000 participants,” says Nancy Carson, event planner for Parents’ Weekend. “It’s a great opportunity for both students and parents to share in the BYU experience.”
The weekend is designed to bring families together in social and academic exchanges. It is also intended to help parents stay informed of happenings at the university.
