Meet BYU’s top trades.

 

Niklas ArrheniusNIKLAS B. ARRHENIUS

• Reigning NCAA discus champion.

• Threw for the Swedish National Team in the International Association of Athletics Federations World Championships in Osaka, Japan, in August.

• Personal record: 215′ 2” (more than 70 yards)

• Great-grandfather Borr Arrhenius was the anchor of Sweden’s tug-of-war team at the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm, Sweden.

• Father Anders H. Arrhenius (BS ’92) was an All-American shot-putter at BYU.

• Brothers Daniel A. (BS ’04) and Leif H. (’10) Arrhenius have also thrown for BYU. Leif recently returned from his mission and will compete again for the Cougars, and against Niklas, this fall.

• Married to BYU javelin thrower Tiffany Rasmussen Arrhenius (’07).

Daniel SummerhaysDANIEL SUMMERHAYS

• The first amateur golfer ever to win a Nationwide Tour event. He won at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Invitational in July.

• Granted full exempt status from BYU to play in the Nationwide Tour for the rest of the year.

• Will forego his last year as a Cougar to play in 15 or more Nationwide Tour events this year, hoping to earn a 2008 PGA Tour card.

• Collegiate All-American in 2006 and 2007.

• Seven credits short of a finance degree. He’ll finish via Independent Study.

• Wife Emily Brinton Summerhays (BFA ’07) has been his caddie in some Tour events.

• Older brothers David L. (BS ’97) and Boyd Summerhays also played Division I golf. Boyd currently plays in the Nationwide Tour as well. Pro golfer Bruce Summerhays is Daniel’s uncle.
