Howell to Lead New Center for Instructional Design

In an effort to improve the quality of instruction on campus and to extend the reach of BYU’s educational programs off campus, the university has created a new Center for Instructional Design. Scott L. Howell, assistant to the associate academic vice president for undergraduate studies, will direct the center.
“Creating this center is really a response to President Merrill Bateman’s vision of the future,” says Howell, who has been serving as director of the Office of Course Development. “We will always be looking at ways to improve and extend university curriculum to both on- and off-campus students.” The center will also better prepare professors to teach in technology-enhanced environments.
