The First 100 Years: Collecting Art at BYUFA09_3628

Dec. 3, 2009–Sept. 25, 2010, Museum of Art

An exhibition of 100 paintings, works on paper, and sculptures will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the university’s art collection. Organized chronologically by date of acquisition, the exhibition will tell the story of the building of a collection.

Nov. 4–7, South Field

Coming off a conference championship and a no. 19 national ranking, the BYU women’s soccer team will have home-field advantage when it hosts the MWC tournament. Strong freshmen recruits like Carlee Payne (’13) will step in and try to help the Cougars defend a second consecutive conference title.

Nov. 11–Dec. 5, Pardoe Theatre

From Stephen Schwartz, composer of Disney’s Enchanted and the hit musical Wicked, comes an uplifting musical that retells the stories of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and Noah. Featuring a score of ballads, love songs, and gospel spirituals, the play reveals that while all families have challenges, they can leave behind a powerful legacy for future generations.

Classes start every few weeks, BYU Conference Center

BYU offers a flexible schedule of GRE test prep courses. The courses include 29 hours of classroom instruction, monitored practice exams, textbooks, and specialized instructors for each subject. Four-hour classes are held on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings. Courses are also offered for the ACT, DAT, GMAT, LSAT, and MCAT.

A dramatic reading for radio, Christmas Chronicles captures the magic and mystery of Santa Claus. Commissioned by Classical 89, noted author and playwright Tim Slover (BA ’80) reveals the origin of Saint Nick in this series, which will be presented in eight episodes.
