Kinetic Connections

Gravity seems suspended for a moment as members of BYU’s Kinnect dance group perform a routine near Rock Canyon in Provo.  Known for their imaginative, sometimes surreal choreography, the dancers captivate audiences in schools, museums, and communities.  But the students enrolled in Dance 365, the course that awards credit for participation in Kinnect, are interested in more than entertaining crowds.  Since its creation in 2002, the group has worked with more than 10,000 children, teaching and presenting dance as a creative process.  Elementary and middle schools can book Kinnect for interactive lecture performances that provide young students with new outlets for expression.  Photography: Mark Philbrick
