BYU “NEWS CREW” CONVERGES ON THE TRI-CITIES

By Julie Towne Espinosa (’07)

WHEN four BYU graduates all landed jobs in the same midsized TV market, they formed an instant bond, even if they did work for competing stations.

“I felt like I kind of had my BYU family,” says Andrea J. Candrian (BA ’04) of discovering other BYU alumni working for Tri-Cities, Wash., TV stations.

Still, “it’s a competition all the time,” says Brian D. Carlson (BA ’04).

Robert T. Roxburgh (BA ’04) is a morning anchor, while Candrian, Carlson, and Othello L. Richards III (BA ’03) are reporters. Candrian, Carlson, and Richards also attend the same singles branch of the Church of Jesus Christ, where they’re called the “news crew.”
