With engaging features, lively news, and useful columns, BYU Magazine exists to extend the learning, happenings, and spirit of BYU far and wide. Some 220,000 copies are distributed each quarter to more than 300,000 alumni, donors, students, and friends of the university, making BYU Magazine a powerful tool for reaching a targeted audience.

In a recent survey, 91 percent of readers said the magazine's quality is “excellent” or “good” and nearly two-thirds called the magazine either their primary or secondary source of information about BYU, rating it higher than any other source.

BYU Magazine Surveyed readers exptressed appreciation for advertising in the magazine, with two-thirds saying magazine advertising was either “very useful” or “somewhat useful.” A vast majority said they felt the number of ads was just right.

About Our Readers

Along with the more than 200,000 copies of BYU Magazine mailed each quarter, another 4,000–7,000 copies are distributed to the campus community. Copies are also distributed to Utah County waiting rooms. The figures below are from a 2005 survey of readers (except for the figures under “Geographic Distribution”) to whom the magazine is mailed.




98% of readers are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.


82% of readers are married. Of readers who are married, 58% said their spouse is also a BYU alum.




87% have Internet access at home.
78% go online to make purchases.


94% have received a university degree.
31% have received a master’s degree.
12% have received a doctorate.
