GROOMING POLICY CHANGE

The BYU Honor Code Office has announced a slight change in grooming standards. Women at BYU are being asked to wear only one earring in each ear, instead of two. The change is a response to a statement from the LDS Church's First Presidency. The Church "discourages the piercing of the body for other than medical purposes, although it takes no position on the minimal piercing of the ears by women for one pair of earrings."

This change will be implemented at the end of winter semester 2001, when ecclesiastical endorsement forms for fall 2001 are due.
