Grass for the Gridiron

28- year-old turf was removed from BYU’s LaVell Edwards Stadium over the summer.

11- inch gain in elevation from the sidelines to midfield on the old field; the crown raises only 3.5–4 inches on the new field.

5 bluegrasses constitute the new grass, a blend designed to hold the field together.

12.75 inches of sod, sand, and gravel layered beneath the grass.

9,000 feet of tubing installed under the gravel layer directs drainage.

78 percent efficient water system installed in the new field; the average home’s water system is 35 percent efficient.

128–38: BYU’s home record since the field’s last renovation.
